You know, I've never sat down to figure out what my fitness goals are. I think it's about time that I do that! Fitness goals: To keep my abdomen "flab" to a minimum (I've heard visceral fat is the worst kind to have!) I also would like to lessen the risk of heart disease and diabetes (these are the two biggest problems in my family) I would also like to be able to run a 5k in the next year I also want to get my total fat % down to a healthy range. I had a my body composition read via a BIA scale and I'm definitely not in the "healthy fat" range. How I am reaching my goals: I'm weight training 3-4 times a week, working 1-2 different muscle groups a day with additional abdominal work. I'm also trying to do cardio activities 5-6 days a week (running, eliptical, light swimming, biking etc.). I'd like to get involved in either Yoga or Pilates but I missed the sign up date at my employer's wellness center! So far I've lost 3-4 lbs and I don't have too much farther to go. The problem I have is keeping my weight at a stable level. I get to my goal weight and think that I can eat whatever I want! Not good! Hopefully I can learn that these changes are LIFE changes, not temporary ones!

Halloo all! Let's see...my fitness goals. I'm looking to join the US Army. Trouble is, I'm about 30lbs over the Army Target Weight. To get on target, I can either inch past the Tape/ARMS test or actually do something about this excess baggage. So, here I am. I figured that if I've got a way to keep tabs on what I'm eating and how often I exercise, I'll be more motivated overall.

| Wow! Over the last couple of months I returned to couch potato status and stopped working out. Today I planned to get back in action and came here for a bit of motivation. Seeing everyone's goals has really got me motivated. I can't wait to get to the gym and meet my goals.

Guess I am the old one here (50). I went on vacation with the family and after we got home and was looking at the pictures I knew it was time to do something. In the spring I found out I had some heart blockage, which my cardiologist said he thought it could be controlled with excercise and lipitor no surgery required at this time. But I did nothing just kept my same lifestyle and kept drinking the beer. That is until I saw the pictures. My son is getting married 8/30 I was not going to look in the wedding pictures as I did on the beach. So started 7/6/08 walking 2 miles per day. Now I am up to around 20 miles per week walking 6-7 days per week. And really watching my diet more fruits and veggies and trying to eat fat free. I have also started weight training 3 days per week. I am down from 218 to 209 today. Which has been a real dissapointment with the way I have been eating and excersing so much. But can tell my clothes are fitting better. My goal is to get to around 160 since I am only 5'7" have no idea when I went from 5'9" to 5'7" but I did. My wife says I am obessed since I have bought all the toys she calls them. Polar rs200sd watch heart monitor. Even went to fleet feet and they videoed me walking and fitted me for the right type of walking shoe. And joined here which is one of the best things I have done for sure. But I do feel alot better, have more confidence, and really enjoying the excersing. So going to try my best to keep it up and get to 160. Have a good day everyone, and keep it up. If I can help you in anyway just email me, I know it is easier if you have someone to be accountable too. And use the forums it helps everyone with little tid bits of advice.

| Setting goals, wow, what a concept... I'm 27 and hugely overweight, through no fault other than my own. I actually began partying quite hard the passed 3 years and have in turn set my body into a downward spiral! I woke up 2 weeks ago... literally... time for a lifeSTYLE change, a lifeTIME change. I weighed 120.1kgs (264.8 pounds) that morning. I put down the cigarettes, put down the drinks and threw away all my take aways that lay sprawled around my house. I studied sport, I lived sport, I WAS sport! I then travelled abroad and tried my hand at cheffing... so here I am. A chef... one who likes to taste everything, experiment... No more! NO MORE GREASY FOODS!!!!! NO MORE RUBBISH!!!! I worked out a healthy eating plan for myself, I also worked out my own fitness programme. I now gym 4 days a week and enjoy 45 mins of cardio 5 days a week. I now weigh 107.6 kgs (237.3 pounds) and am smiling at the progress I have made. Aiming for 75ks (165.4 pounds). A very attainable goal! I have no event goals, no competitions I'd like to enter, not yet anyway, I have chosen LIFE as my goal, fresh air as my goal, being able to play with my nephew of 2 years for more than 10mins without losing my breath! So here i am world... You are my goal.. I am here to conquer! Keep up the spirits to all of you out there and smile, what a beautiful gift we all have.... a powerful mind, that sets us apart from the rest! Everyday is a set closer to being exactly what it is you see when you close your eyes and see the ideal you! GOOD WORK EVERYONE!

| Hi all... I am a stay at home mom with three boys ages 2 1/2 years, 5 years and 12 years. Over the course of the years and yes the course of having three kids, I have gained weight. A LOT of weight... then a depression set in and I gained even more weight. I have always fought my weight and the fact that my weight just kept gaining and gaining, well of course, more and more depressed. While I am still the mother of three wonderful boys, I realized that I can't have fun with them, and play with them. And they are my life. Yes I could go back to work and that usually helps me drop about 20 lbs, but my middle son has recently been diagnosed with Aspergers and it would be better for him and our family if I do the stay at home mom thing. A few weeks ago, I made a decision... I have to lose weight. Now, you name the fad diet I have been on it, soo, I decided that I would take everything that I have learned from all the failed fad diets, and create something that not only can I live with, but that I can do, and maintain... which is kinda hard considering that all three boys have a weight problem too... they are all underweight...they eat and eat and eat, but don't gain a pound.... Anyway... my goals are to be able to lose some weight and start walking....outside.... I have too many outdoor allergies to write them all, but I figure if I can get my body more aclimated to the outside, when I go out with my boys... life will be more fun... So...long story short (too late).... having fun with my boys.... that is not only my fitness goals...but a life goal as well....

I spent the last year largely doing nothing due to a car accident. I'm finally back out doing my favorite activities -- scuba diving, camping and hiking, kung fu among others.
But in that year of very little activity, I put on about 50# and lost a lot of muscle mass.
So I get to spend the next year fixing that problem

| Just want to give you some words of encouragement. It does seem that losing pounds takes forever. However I guess they didn't get there overnight and so they won't gp away overnight either. Keep your exercise and you'll feel better all over. Good luck. Oh, you are a yonug one. I am 60!

Hi all, just joined today and hope this site helps me reach my goal. I am 50 and have been struggling with weight since I was 20. I am 5'1 and weight in at 170. My goal is to become a personal trainer. I'm starting off by walking 4-5 miles a day and keeping my cals at 12-1300. I will add a 10 min weight program after my 1st full week of walking. Wish me luck and I'll keep you all posted.
Cheers, Jules
