You know, I've never sat down to figure out what my fitness goals are. I think it's about time that I do that! Fitness goals: To keep my abdomen "flab" to a minimum (I've heard visceral fat is the worst kind to have!) I also would like to lessen the risk of heart disease and diabetes (these are the two biggest problems in my family) I would also like to be able to run a 5k in the next year I also want to get my total fat % down to a healthy range. I had a my body composition read via a BIA scale and I'm definitely not in the "healthy fat" range. How I am reaching my goals: I'm weight training 3-4 times a week, working 1-2 different muscle groups a day with additional abdominal work. I'm also trying to do cardio activities 5-6 days a week (running, eliptical, light swimming, biking etc.). I'd like to get involved in either Yoga or Pilates but I missed the sign up date at my employer's wellness center! So far I've lost 3-4 lbs and I don't have too much farther to go. The problem I have is keeping my weight at a stable level. I get to my goal weight and think that I can eat whatever I want! Not good! Hopefully I can learn that these changes are LIFE changes, not temporary ones!

Halloo all! Let's see...my fitness goals. I'm looking to join the US Army. Trouble is, I'm about 30lbs over the Army Target Weight. To get on target, I can either inch past the Tape/ARMS test or actually do something about this excess baggage. So, here I am. I figured that if I've got a way to keep tabs on what I'm eating and how often I exercise, I'll be more motivated overall.

| Wow! Over the last couple of months I returned to couch potato status and stopped working out. Today I planned to get back in action and came here for a bit of motivation. Seeing everyone's goals has really got me motivated. I can't wait to get to the gym and meet my goals.

Guess I am the old one here (50). I went on vacation with the family and after we got home and was looking at the pictures I knew it was time to do something. In the spring I found out I had some heart blockage, which my cardiologist said he thought it could be controlled with excercise and lipitor no surgery required at this time. But I did nothing just kept my same lifestyle and kept drinking the beer. That is until I saw the pictures. My son is getting married 8/30 I was not going to look in the wedding pictures as I did on the beach. So started 7/6/08 walking 2 miles per day. Now I am up to around 20 miles per week walking 6-7 days per week. And really watching my diet more fruits and veggies and trying to eat fat free. I have also started weight training 3 days per week. I am down from 218 to 209 today. Which has been a real dissapointment with the way I have been eating and excersing so much. But can tell my clothes are fitting better. My goal is to get to around 160 since I am only 5'7" have no idea when I went from 5'9" to 5'7" but I did. My wife says I am obessed since I have bought all the toys she calls them. Polar rs200sd watch heart monitor. Even went to fleet feet and they videoed me walking and fitted me for the right type of walking shoe. And joined here which is one of the best things I have done for sure. But I do feel alot better, have more confidence, and really enjoying the excersing. So going to try my best to keep it up and get to 160. Have a good day everyone, and keep it up. If I can help you in anyway just email me, I know it is easier if you have someone to be accountable too. And use the forums it helps everyone with little tid bits of advice.
