| Hi all, Just curious as what fitness goals everyone is hoping to achieve. If there are some of us with similar goals, may be we can serve as support for each other. What are your fitness goals? - To get fit and feel more active.
- Learn a variety of ways to exercise and feel comfortable doing them by myself.
- Feel confident wearing a swimsuit.
- Thinking about training for a 5K.
- Keep working out!
How you are working to reach them? I've joined the local gym and have begun working with a personal trainer. I train with the trainer 1-2 times per week. Three sessions of toning per week. Mostly weight lifting, bosu, and fitness ball activities. I try to fit in running at least two times per week for about 30 minutes. (Need to pick up the cardio pace.) I take a Yoga class on Wednesdays. How you will know you are there? - Wake up in the morning and want to workout.
- Know the names of the exercises I'm doing.
- Put on a swimsuit and feel ok about how I look. (This might be more of a mental workout than a physical one.)
- Keep up with my four year old.

| I'm in the military and recently failed my PT test. We have a number of push ups and sit ups we have to do as well as a mile and a half run. I was complacent the last few months and let myself go. Now I have about 3 months to get back on track, so short term goals are to get back to doing the mile and a half in under 13 minutes. I also want to max out my situps...something I've never been able to do. Long term goals would be to get under 200 pounds and possibly train for and run another half marathon. I did it 3 years ago, and even though I was 215 pounds and the last one to cross the line at 3 hours and 30 minutes, it was an amazing accomplishment. I see you are thinking of doing a 5K, I say go for it!! That was part of my training when I did the half marathon, and it doesn't matter what kind of shape you're in, the people that are out there doing it already are very accepting and helpful. I was afraid at first to go out because of my weight, but once I was out there and saw how friendly everyone was, it was a great boost for my motivation. It's never too late to get in shape! Best of luck!!

My goal is to get below 200 lbs and be able to run a 5k without passing out! I’ve worked my way up to 1.6 miles (2.5k I think) and have a long way to go. Seriously though I really would like to learn how to structure my eating and exercise habits a bit to avoid huge swings in both. It would be nice to go into the summer being in shape. Best of luck!

I'm a college 5k/10k runner. I just recently decided that if I'm going to continue with training as much as I am, I may as well give it my all and work on my nutrition and lose a few pounds. It's my last track season so I really want some big jumps to go out with a bang and I'm going to try the steeple as well this year. Making nationals is the biggest priority so I'm going to do any and everything that could help that.
P.S. I love the diversity of people on this site. Good luck to all in your quests. Joining this site is obviously a commitment to progress in itself.

| I just signed up for a two day 110 mile bike ride from san antonio to austin. this will be my first cycling event, and i have about 12 weeks to train for it. I've been doing about 2 spin classes a week and one long ride on saturdays (this weekend it'll be bumped up to 30 mi). I still have a long way to go, and since i've kicked up the cycling, i've been more lax about what i eat, because i'm not gaining any weight (but i'm certainly not losing it either). I've come down about fifty five pounds from about a year ago, but i'm still about fifteen pounds above my ideal weight. I'm really excited about this physical challenge - it will be the hardest thing i ever did, and i can't wait!

My fitness goals:
I love to workout (most days), and I've been working out regularly for 20 years. But what I want is to feel like I've got energy after a long day.
How am I going to achieve that goal:
I'm trying to create balance---a balance between cardio workouts, strength training workouts, and yoga. For years, my main focus has been cardio. But by varying my workouts, I plan to get the extra strength I need to have the energy I want.

| im into MMA and thai boxing and its exhuasting i want to have enough gas left in the tank so i can still defend against submissions and strikes at the end of a grueling 2 hour training session not just at the beginning!! Im an ex paratrooper so i like to stay generally fit as well as sports specific..if that makes sense? And im gonna do it by devising my own sports specific circuits and strength routines as well as a balanced general x training routine of cardio and strength/endurance work....whilst making sure my rest periods are of good quality ..staying hydrated and eating well...simple really (hmmm i wish) .

| Hi everyone, It's great to read about people's goals. I have short-term and long-term ones: Short-term: I have to train for a 5K I signed up for in August. I have not been running for months, and I have never liked it very much, so this will be an accomplishment! I just want to run the entire 5K, however slowly. I have been traveling extensively this year, so I have really stopped exercising regularly. I want to run 3-4 days/week, get back into Bikram yoga 3 days/week, and weight-train 2 days/week. Once I settle down in a new city in 2 months, I would also like to get back into Jujitsu or try another martial art. Long-term: I want to lose about 50# and be in the best shape of my life! I want to feel good, for the first time that I can remember, in shorts/skirts and bikinis. It's more about confidence, health and achieving a goal for me. Not necessarily about the weight or a specific clothing size, etc. By the way, I am a vegetarian/vegan. I also need to clean up my eating habits a bit! Good luck to everyone! Mera
