I keep hearing conflicting information as to which is better - eat 3 times / day with no snacks or to eat little and often. These "change your life" type health programes on at the moment all seem to differ in this.

Any ideas?

All the articles I've read in magazines (Prevention, Shape, even Jillian Michael's website) say that eating 5 small meals a day is the best way to lose weight. One of the apparent reasons as mentioned in Prevention (july 2008), is that by eating five small meals instead of three large ones, helps to keep your metabolism high. "Spreading calories throughout your day keeps blood sugar leels even and conrols the release of insulin that can cause your body to store more calories as fat".

Hope this helps!

A combination of both works for me. 3 small meals and 2 snacks. I started paying attention to portion size & calorie needs and started eating meals off of smaller plates and it made a big difference. Also, I stop eating before I feel stuffed. Check out mypyramid.gov - it has some good info. Hope this helps!

Could this not depend on the individual? I have doubts as to wether one diet / exercise regime fits every human body.
