Good lord, anything that keeps your body from leaving the ground is a non-impact exercise protecting your joints. The perfect exercise in that regard is....

SWIMMING!! I know, you're all about the sweat. But as a wrestler it only took one practice for me to realize that yes, you do sweat in the pool. And the difference is observable on the scale. You have the luxury in the pool to have high intensity, long endurance, or muscle specific exercises/workout days. So do it up!

I was diagnosed with RA as a teen, went into remission in my 20's and it came back.  One thing that got me off my meds was 3000 MG of Fish Oil daily, was using it to lower my cholesterol per DR and my RA going away was a great side benefit.  You should add some, but let your doctor know.

I walk alot and now I have to get into a training mode for it as I have to get my pre-diabetes under control with diet and exercise, do not want to end up like my mom with heart problems starting in my 40's (I am 45 now and just got diagnosed with HBP) and she also has diabetes which she has to take insulin for.

I am trying to figure out a race to set my sights on for a goal for training.  I know swimming is awesome for no impact and I have a rebounder at home that I use with my Wii Fit Plus and rebound for 30 minutes a day when I can, but I have to get serious about it now.

I hope this helps out, if you can walk and push your baby around, that is awesome, that is how I lost the 30 pounds of baby weight with my first child, walking 30 minutes every morning on a local walking trail.  Mall walking is awesome also, just get the baby in the stroller and go.  Cheap and you can have bonding time by talking to the baby or put on music and walk it off.

One thing that's helped me is glucosamine, try to find a supplement containing chondroitin and MSM too. That helps a lot, especially when you take large amounts of fish oil too.

I have knee problems and the only thing i can do a lot of, is walking. But after reading this thread, i might try swimming again...
