So i'm new on here. I thought that if i signed on to a online website then i would reach my goal weight faster. I started these Tae Bo DVDs which are really fun....The not so fun part is i can only do 20-30mins...I never realized just how out of shape i am. I thought that since i went from 202lbs to 168lb I was in good shape....A little overweight but still in better shape than before....I guess my question is.....Well i always wanted to start running...But the only thing is i'm a smoker and well I get really short of breath...My question is how do i train to start running and how can i get myself in better shape...And has anyone else been in my shoes...where i'm at now?

If you want to run, I think you need to quit smoking. I know how hard it is, because it took me MANY tries. My 2nd try with Chantix did the trick. But it only works if you are ready...so yeah I know that wasn't really the question. Try intervals, walk 10 minutes, run 1 minute, walk 10 min, run 1. Then next week run 2, until you have built up your stamina.

I'd do nicotine patches instead, chantix made my mom ill and we've reseached it since, finding a lot of people call it "gift-wrapped poison". But of course that's your decision.

About running, just start slow. Don't overdo it in the beginning. You think you're starting slow? Go slower. If you're out of shape, like i am, you can get caught in the "hey, i can do this, i'll run a little more!"-trap and have injuries set you back for months. It's better to have a slow and steady progress than none at all.

Weight loss is 90% what you eat (barring any sort of major issues), and the rest is exercise.
Smoking and running don't really go hand in hand, but that doesn't mean you have to quit to run. There are some marathoners who ran and smoked for years - John "The Penguin" Bingham for example. Quitting will improve your overall health, life expectency, and all the other stuff you've been told a million times.

If you want to run, than get some running shoes and run. Worry about the smoking part later. For now consider the two unrelated.

I am also a smoker.  My goal is to quit smoking all together, but for right now I am content with slowly reducing how much I smoke a day.  So far I have gone from 2 1/2 packs a day to 1 or 1 1/2 packs a day.  That was my first step.  My second step was finding OFL.  My third step towards my goal of being fitter and being able to either run/cycle long distance is to do that gradually as well.  I am determined to increase my stamina so I also practice the walk/run method.

There's no great ways to lose weight than having regular exercise, proper diet and enough sleep. Avoid bad habits like smoking and drinking alcohols. Instead, eat healthy foods like vegetables and fruits. In terms with supplementation, it's not necessarily but it's added a plus to help you to lose more weight. Most especially for those big people ranging 300-up pounds. Make sure that the supplement/product you've give a try is safe and proven effective. I know the most popular so far this year is the Slender Factor from New Zealand. I've notice some of their TV Ads lately. They said it goods for controlling appetite and burning fats. Avoid smoking!
