I used to use a different online food log, and it had this feature. It had categories like Anger, Stress, Clarity, Health, Happyness. And it surprised me how I seemed to eat more on days where I had negative inputs to these fields. Also, it helped me realize I was unhappy, which helped motivate me to change.

Zone Diet Nutrition Log

I have been looking for a program like OnlineFitnessLog that also manages the Zone Diet block system for recording food intake. Apparently nothing exists.

You might explore how to add that functionality to the nutrition section, which would open you up to a new market of dieters that don't track based on calories.

Multi-word search

Hey trevor,

I was hoping you can add a multi-word search for the nutrition log. Right now, if I search for "bread white", it only finds something like "wonder bread white" but it will omit "bread, white". I know that doing join SQL operations is going to be heavy on the server, but I end up having to do multiple searches just to find what I'm looking for. You can also make a checkbox below the search to switch between exact search and multi-word search.

Regards

A couple of ideas

Hi,

New to the site and like it a lot over other websites I tried. Most of the features I were looking for are here but there is a couple of things that would really make it the ultimate and I didnt see them mentioned anywhere else on the forums.

1. I love the calendar however it would be awesome if you could assign different icons to different exercises. That way I could see at a glance when I've done certain types of activites. Easiest way would probably be to have a choice of 5-10 icons to select from when creating a custom exercise (much like the way I can select a message icon when posting a message on this forum) so that when that custom exercise is shown on the calendar it is shows up with the assigned icon instead of the default heart or weight icon.

2. I dont enter my food intake so the calories icon on the calendar (the one that looks like a car speedometer) is not really needed. It would be great if there was an option to turn it off as it clutters up the look of the calendar when browsing through. Seems like a small thing but it would make a big difference for how clearly I can see what I've done for the month.

3. Would be great if the cardio detail report had totals at the bottom of each column (and averages for the speed columns)

Great site but for me the above would make it the ultimate site

Thanks

Carl

Notes/Journal section.

Would it be possible to add some sort of Notes section on the "home" page?

Editing and Deleting Nutritional Information

Is there a way to remove duplicate food entries? I seemed to have hit the save button twice, again, so there are doubles.

It would also be nice to include a "verified" tag, and even a "report this" tag for removal of other people's duplicates or incorrect information. This would help keep the database pure. I agree, it's great that user's can add to it, it keeps it current and full, but it also makes me uneasy to be uncertain of the validity of some of the entries. Allowing user's to verify, perhaps even putting there name on it if it's been verified, would help ease that problem. Just some thoughts.

Enter miscellaneous calories.

It would be nice to have a way to enter in the calories for a food that isn't listed that i don't want to list. I am training for a natural bodybuilding show and I have been able to log all my workouts and food intake. Food intake is a huge part of training for a bodybuilding show and online fitness log makes it easy!

Would it be possible to have the capability to move foods up and down on my nutrition log by dragging them up and down? Would it also be possible to add a column for time. I like to track when I eat my food.

If you respond, can you notify me via email? I do not know how to access this part of the fitness log. This is great motivation, it tells me I'm doing things right, even if the scale hasn't caught up to my healthy habits yet.

I'd also love to have a goal line. The goal line on my weight chart is great, a similar one to show my goal for Calories Consumed and my goal for Calories Expended would be great. Especially should this trend continue. This weight-response to a positive calorie difference could be easily seen in the two standard graphs (calorie in/out & metrics[weight]) on the homepage.

However, this requires that i enter a value for my weight metric each day that i enter caloric data.

If i skip a day on one side the graphs will be out of sync since they only display the last 20 entries.
For example i enter caloric data everyday... but i do not measure my weight each day (i skip on Jan-5 and Jan-7)... by the time i get to Jan-20 i have 20 entries for calories and 18 entries for weight-metric... and the x-axis values of 1-20 give me no indication of where/why the data is out of sync.

I guess i would like to see the graphs tied to an X-axis of "DATE". This way all data gathered for a day is kept in sync with the other graphs... making correlation easy to view.

Maybe this is just my own wish, but fundamentally we are tracking on a date basis not an entry basis.

Thanks for your consideration.

Printable Log

It would be great to be able to print out fitness and nutrition info to give to a coach, trainer, nutritionist, etc. I can't find a feature to do this and so I can't use this site for what I need. I'm very impressed with this application and am looking forward to understanding it more. Trust me, any criticisms below are strictly constructive. Since I only started using this earlier in the day... I thought you may appreciate a newcomers view on a few things.

Help... The help system can use a great deal of improvement. A matter of fact, it is barely there.

Dietary Suggestions... I think a dietary suggestions page would be VERY helpful. For instance, it should tell you what you have calculated the basal metabolic rate is, suggested protein, carbs, yadda, yadda, yadda. A vitamins and minerals section would be pretty cool as well.

Weight Loss... I would imagine many of the folks in here need to lose a few pounds as well as track their fitness information. How about some suggestions on how many caleries under caleries expended a person should be targeting for a 1lb, 5lb, etc loss. Also, if someone is in "Weight Loss Mode", show the target in the metrics and calories in/out graphs.

Workouts... This area looks like it could use several changes.
* Strength - Let me change the sets, weights and durations for an exercise in a workout once it has been added.
* Strength - Allow us to reorder the exercises once a workout is defined.
* Strength - Allow the grouping of exercises for super sets and compound super sets.
* Strength - Allow the ability to add 1 or two pictures to an exercise.
* Strength - Allow us to print a workout (with thumbnails images) to take to the gym with us. Put a couple of blank entries in there in the event our weights go up. That way we can take notes and bring them back easily.
* Strength - Allow folks to flag a workout as public and share with others on the site.
* Cardio - Give us a spot for a URL link so we can link back to motion based or garmin connect. How slick to simply click and get the details of our run.
* Cardio - A calculation of the calories used would be awesome. Give the ability to easily edit it though.

Nutrition...
* Allow some favorite foods to be flagged and very easily accessible and with one click added.
* Vitamins and minerals should be included somehow.
* Water consumption as some check boxes would be great. Check them off as you go through the day.
* When a custom meal is added to the log, don't break it out. Simply display it as the meal title and allow it to be expanded if we want to see the details.

Mobility... I would like to see the RSS as someone else mentioned. That is brilliant. Also, how about an iGoogle gadget so we can easily have some of the graphs available in iGoogle. Finally, a small and simple page that can be accessed via a mobile phone to add to the nutrition log and exercise logs.

If some of this is available, please forgive me for posting it... however, I suppose it is still valid as a user on day 1. :)

Thanks again for the brilliant app!!!
