Of course there's hope for you! Just think of the healthier life you will be leading as motivation. A few words of advice -

Find exercise that you enjoy. Walking, gardening, Wii. Whatever, it doesn't have to be a sport, just activity.

Start small. Don't bite off more than you can chew or you will lose motivation. Any exercise is better than none.

Don't expect immediate and/or drastic results. It will take time for your body's metabolism to change and turn your hard work into visible results.

Commit. You must be wholeheartedly committed to making a lifestyle change, not just a temporary adjustment. Eating right and exercising consistently is fun and generates great rewards!

Best of luck in reaching your goals!

RE: new member

Hi there,
I'm new too - I've just taken a deep breath and joined today! I'm a 47 year old couch-potato with 40 pounds to lose. I've never been into fitness and exercise and have horrible memories of those humiliating P.T. sessions at school!

I don't ever want to run a marathon or compete at any sport, all I want is to lose the excess weight and be able to walk up a hill without feeling as though my lungs are on fire and tone up my flabby 'bingo-wing' upper arms.

I need motivation !! Is there hope for me? :) I'm the most unfit person I know!

Debbie

RE: new member

Hi and thanks for posting. A marathon and a century bike ride are great accomplishments! Glad to hear you're back to it. Best of luck in reaching your goals.

new member

Hi,

I joined a couple of weeks ago. Doing a job that is 100% desk, I need to get active again. So far things are going well. I hope to add a resistance component in another week or so as I phase back into things. In the past I have been a long distance athlete and I have completed a marathon and a century on my bicycle.
